Just curious to see how many people use systems and how many people cap the games without using any system. I've been doing some research on various systems, mostly for totals, and I'm curious if anyone would be willing to share some insight. Even if you don't want to give away your system just some basic info. Also, for those who don't use systems where do you get your info from before making plays and the kinda of information you look for.

I am a long time fundamental handicapper and don't use systems. I get information from a myriad of sources but to name a few online, start with ESPN.com, Donbest.com, NFL.com, NBA.com, MLB.com. Above on the toolbar you can find Stats, Weather, etc. I get a lot of hard copy material as well.

If your looking for systems, check out our different Sports Forums as many of our handicappers use and create systems.

Yea I agree monitoring lines is extremely important. I've tried capping plays myself for the past few weeks to see how well I can do and I compare my plays with others good cappers from various sites to see if any of the plays match. I'm just trying to see how well I can cap plays on my own....thanks for all your info though guys.

I simply do as much research as I can and set what I think the line should be...if it is much better, I jump on it (this is where matchbook comes in handy). It hasn't let me down yet...at least not in the long run, but we'll see about the longer run:toast:

`Capping How?

Since MLB has the most time left, to me it would only make sence to contribute something for that sport. And so it shall be, the largest single item I look at is the pitching match up. Do you have a 1 going against a 4 or 5? What about the 2 verses 5? Something else to consider when it's close, check out the pitchers ERA. Best of luck with your MLB wagers the rest of this season.

Hey DP...I devised my own system to use on the '05-'06 CBB season, and it turned out very nicely :) I start with power ratings, which are posted on my site (picklesratings.com), and then add in a few other factors, such as when in the season home teams usually do well. The system is based on the theory that a team's strength changes over the course of a season...some that very few, if any, other power ratings account for.

I ended with a 489-408 record (54.5%) last season. I hope to improve on my profits this season by doing some line shopping and perhaps some middling, if I can figure out when it's effective. I'll try posting my picks on this forum during the season.

Hope this helps!
